What is your role at PERI and how long have you been part of the team?
I am the Sales Engineer for Buildings covering the Midlands region. I started with PERI at the beginning of this year.
What do you like about your role?
The best thing about this role is I can go about the Midlands meeting customers undertaking various projects. Hence every day is exciting and different be it the people I meet, the places I go or the projects that I am involved with.
What is crucial for you to be successful in your role?
Be flexible. I use the term: ADAPT-ADJUST-ACCOMMODATE. Appreciate that no two days/projects/customers are the same, so one has to be flexible day to day. Be it to adapt to external factors or just accommodate the unavoidable changes. We can have the necessary training and prepared for a task or appointment but still be mindful of opportunities, potential issues, and challenges.
What is the best advice you've received?
“You will have your way. I will have mine. There is no such thing as ‘the only way’”.
In short, there is more than one way to skin a cat. So everyone will have their own path/method/choice to achieve their goals/task. Don’t be surprised that two persons doing the same thing may have different outcomes. So stop comparing myself with others and focus on myself doing my best on the task at hand.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself outside of work (hobbies/interests).
I have only been in the UK since Autumn 2015. But during this time, I have experienced 5 changes of Prime Minister, the shortest serving PM in UK's 300-year PMO history, Brexit, a Royal Wedding, “lockdown and furlough”, the first-ever Platinum Jubilee in British history, a Royal funeral and lastly the Coronation! More than some British in the past have experienced in a lifetime!
