Syangeni is located in the drought-prone Kitui region, one of the poorest areas in Kenya. Here, education is the key to a better future. Originally opened in 2017, the PATRIZIA School has seen a steadily growing demand. With the recently launched expansion, the PATRIZIA Foundation and PERI are responding to this increasing need. The focus of the project includes:
- New dormitories for 50 girls and 50 boys
- Six teachers’ residences to support long-term educational quality
- A “Future Classroom” to strengthen digital education and vocational preparation
- Sustainable infrastructure including a solar system, water tank and irrigation for school gardens
Construction will utilise the innovative PERI TwistBlock system – an interlocking concrete block system that enables quick, mortar-free and plaster-free building of robust and flexible structures. The TwistBlocks are produced in a local facility in Kenya, creating jobs and supporting the local economy.
For the PATRIZIA School in Syangeni, this expansion means much more than additional space. It represents a lasting improvement to the learning environment, leading to higher graduation rates and better long-term opportunities in education and employment. The entire local community will benefit from this investment in education.
