Formwork and Scaffolding specialist, PERI Ltd., held a breaking ground ceremony on Wednesday 29th May to mark the start of construction at its existing site in Brentwood, Essex. PERI will invest over £15 million in the redevelopment, which will support the demand and requirements for projects across the South and South-East.
The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Brentwood, Councillor Sheila Murphy, who joined Managing Director of PERI UK, Alasdair Stables, Market Unit Director for PERI Northern Europe & North America, Carl Heathcote and the wider PERI team in commemorating the milestone.
PERI has appointed Bowmer and Kirkland (B&K) to undertake construction of the new facility. The concrete structure will be cast in-situ using PERI formwork and scaffolding systems.
Commenting on the redevelopment, Director of B&K, Adrian Grocock, said:
“We are really delighted to be constructing this facility for PERI UK and look forward to building a long lasting relationship with everyone involved in the project.”
The redevelopment will provide improved facilities for the site’s 80 employees, including a modern two-storey office covering 2,700 m² of floorspace. Two separate buildings will replace the current warehouse, one accommodating cleaning and repair, the other storing plywood stock.
Plans also include a showroom designed to display and demonstrate formwork and scaffolding equipment to customers, schools and colleges.
On completion of the build, the existing office will be demolished, creating additional yard space to accommodate a larger stock profile on site.
Commenting on the redevelopment, Managing Director of PERI UK, Alasdair Stables said:
“This is an exciting time for PERI UK. The redevelopment is a significant investment by PERI into its Brentwood office and depot. It will provide new and improved facilities for staff, and additional services for customers including a plywood and timber store, equipment showroom for training, and a dedicated pre-assembly hall to complement our existing service in Rugby.”
PERI currently operates across seven offices, including its head office in Rugby. The existing site in Brentwood has been in operation for 10 years after it replaced PERI’s first office in the UK at Dartford.
The redevelopment is timely as PERI looks forward to marking 30 years in the UK formwork and scaffolding industry next year.
